During the transition from the Ming Dynasty to the Ching Dynasty, a number of Chinese martial arts experts fled to other countries to liberate themselves from the massacres and massacres committed by Manchu-dominated Chinese. As a result, China's Ming Dynasty's knowledge has been spread to other countries including Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, and the Okinawa Islands. One of them is Chen Yuan Pao who goes to Japan, where he further teaches Judo's ideas and techniques.
Until
the 15th century Okinawa Islands were divided into three Kingdoms. And in 1470, Youshi Sho of the Sashikianji group
managed to unite all the islands in Okinawa Islands under his control. The 2nd
superintendent of the Sho, named
Shin
Sho, took and prohibited the use of sharp weapons. Then Shimazu's family from
Kyushu Island succeeded in conquering
the Okinawa Islands, but the ban on the possession of sharp weapons was still
ongoing. As a result, the people can only rely on their strengths and physical
skills to defend themselves.
At
the same time, martial arts from China began to be introduced in Okinawa
through the chairmen who came from China who were then conquered by the Manchu (Ching
Dynasty). Among the chairmen there were a number of martial arts experts from
China.
The
influence of this martial arts of China quickly spread throughout the Okinawa
Islands. Through diligent and tough
training, the Okinawa people have developed a new style of combat and technique
that ultimately exceeds the original source. The martial arts flows Te (originally
Tode or Tote) in Okinawa are divided by the name of its development area to
Naha-te, Shuri-te, and Tomari-te.
Naha-te
is similar to southern China's martial arts, especially in a pattern of
movement that is implemented with a strong style and is very appropriate for a big body type of person. This is the
Shotokan stream. Shuri-te is similar to the north-south Chinese martial arts
whose pattern of movement are
more
emphasizes of the body
lightness. The next Shuri-te became the strongest form of Goju-Ryu's flow.
While the Shimazu increasingly tightened the ban on the possession of sharp
weapons, this Te-martial arts training was growing.
The
existence of the transition during the Manchu race on Ching Dynasty that led many martializes to flee outside
China, became a
commercial event that determined the martial law’s influences. Among them are Chen
Yuan Paoyang that spreads Judo's
technical ideas later.
